Winter Hills

One of my all-time favourite winter stamp sets is Papertrey Ink's Winter Hills. I love both the framed scene as well as each individual, stand-alone element. I saw this week's Christmas card challenges at Merry Monday and at Festive Friday and decided that I had to play along. Both challenges featured rustic elements and I knew that Winter Hills would be perfect.

This is the inspiration over at Merry Monday:

And this is the inspiration for Festive Friday:

And here is my card ...

I stamped the framed scene from Winter Hills on PTI Vintage Cream cardstock, using Memento Rich Cocoa ink, and then coloured with Copics. When I was finished, I stamped the little tiny snowflake that is included in the set into the sky several times, using Fresh Snow ink. I then trimmed out my stamped image, masked the edges of it, and sprayed adhesive (Krylon) all over and sprinkled it with Tim Holtz Clear Rock Candy Distress Glitter. Which had been "contaminated", just yesterday, with some Antique Linen Distress Glitter. Don't you hate when you pour the excess glitter into the wrong jar??!! This, unfortunately, has happened to me more than once over the years. I managed to scoop most of the Antique Linen out of the Rock Candy jar, but I can see on this glittered image that I do have a few strays, but it actually looks more rustic and homey this way.

I added a stamped die cut banner from Betsy Veldman's Tinsel & Tags kit (Fresh Ink Provincial Grey background with PTI Terracotta Tile sentiment) and some holly from PTI's Note Niblets. The assembled image was foam mounted onto an October Afternoon woodgrain patterned paper card front.

It's so hard to capture the glittered scene in a photo, but in real life it's so magical! It's like looking outside through a cold, frosted window.
