Tag You're ... It!

There is a new challenge site out there and it looks like it's going to be lots of fun! Jackie Rockwell has created the Tag You're ... It blog for CAS tag challenges. Since I love tags, it was kind of  a no brainer to play along.

The goal for each challenge is to design a CAS tag based on the inspiration provided, and this time around it is this fun, and gorgeous, tag by Karin Akesdotter. I was inspired by the action verb, Relax. I don't know why, but that's one of the things that really jumped out for me and I came up with this ...

Do you think it's CAS enough, LOL? I am seeing this on the next bouquet of fresh flowers, or houseplant, that I gift to someone. Totally.

Supplies:

Cardstock: PTI Stamper's Select White
Stamps: PTI Circle Scribbles, Sketched Shapes
Ink: PTI Berry Sorbet, Limeade; Fresh Ink Melon
Die: PTI Tag Sale #9
Other: Maya Road twine

Papertrey Ink Make It Monday #169: Vellum Overlays (Second Post)

I'm boycotting baseball for the day, way too hot outside but I'm not complaining, and enjoying stamping in the comfort of air conditioning. You can see Papertrey's Make It Monday challenge for this week (here). Danielle Flanders shows us beautiful techniques with vellum, like this ...

I am loving colour blocking lately, especially when combined with PTI's Modern Cross Quilt cover plate. The possibilities are endless. For this card I chose to add a vellum overlay banner, which I stamped with Mehndi Medallion (mini), using Versamark and white detail embossing powder.

So simple to make, but kind of pretty.

Supplies:

Cardstock: PTI Stamper's Select White, Vellum, Spring Rain, Summer Sunrise, Harvest Gold, Lemon Tart
Stamps: PTI Mehndi Medallion (mini), Mini Blooms
Inks: Versamark, Versafine Smokey Gray
Dies: PTI Cover Plate: Modern Cross Quilt; MFT Fishtail Flags Stax; Spellbinders Circles
Other: Twine from The Twinery

Papertrey Ink Make It Monday #169: Vellum Overlays

Danielle Flanders is up for this week's Make It Monday over at Papetrey Ink (here). She made a beautiful card  that was very inspiring ...

I liked her card so much that I pretty much used the same elements that she did - patterned paper, vellum, decorative element, vellum overlay (of course!) and a die cut.

Since those gorgeous Life is Beautiful butterfly dies are still out of stock, I had to make do with the one in the Signature Series. I must say that I still love that stamp with the gorgeous sentiment. I stamped it on a die cut Spring Moss butterfly. I inked up my stamp with Aqua Mist, stamped off twice and then loaded up the stamp with Versamark to finally stamp the die cut. Love the way it turned out! I also decided to add some texture to my vellum by dry embossing it with the woodgrain impression plate.

P.S. I kind of hated to cover up my pretty patterned paper with vellum! I don't remember ever liking a collection of patterned papers as much as Fancy Pants' Be.Loved valentine collection.

Supplies:

Cardstock: PTI Spring Moss, Stamper's Select Vellum; Recollections glitter cardstock
Stamps: PTI Signature Series: Butterfly
Inks: Versamark, PTI Aqua Mist
Dies: PTI Woodgrain Impression Plate, Cover Plate: Quatrefoil Die, Wonderful Words: Thank You
Patterned Papers: Fancy Pants Be.Loved; Crate Paper woodgrain
Other: Martha Stewart butterfly punch

Papertrey Ink June 2014 Blog Hop (Third Post)

I didn't think that I would even have the time to participate in this month's Blog Hop over at Papertrey Ink (here), and now I've managed to make three cards! Whee!

Again, the photo and this colour recipe inspired me ...

Loved the frames in the photo and the beautiful colours.

I have my two oldest grandsons over for the day (8 and 5) and it's still raining cats and dogs. What to do, what to do, what to do! No way are we staying at home all day, that's just not happening. They want to go see How to Train Your Dragon 2. I tried to convince them that there was a charming fairy princess movie, but they weren't buying that! Any other movies we shouldn't miss?

Supplies:

Cardstock: PTI Stamper's Select White, Vintage Cream, Summer Sunrise, Berry Sorbet, Aqua Mist, Hibiscus Burst
Stamps: PTI Live Love Life, Heart Prints
Inks: PTI Smokey Shadow
Dies: PTI Grand Ampersand; Lifestyle Crafts Squares, Frames 4
Patterned Paper: Fancy Pants Be.Loved.
Other: Glossy Accents

Papertrey Ink June 2014 Blog Hop (Second Post)

I managed to make a second card for this month's blog hop over at Papertrey Ink (here). Nichole Heady has provided a fun photo, some sketches and some colour combos for inspiration.

I used both the photo (that very darling little white and pink bed) and this colour combo as inspiration. We are not having a very nice summer's week. It's pouring rain, for the second day in a row, and we haven't seen even one teeny tiny ray of sun in days. Boo! And of course this is really bad for card photos. What's new?

PTI Supplies:

Cardstock: PTI Stamper's Select White, Sweet Blush, Berry Sorbet, Aqua Mist
Dies: Cover Plate: Modern Cross Quilt

Papertrey Ink June 2014 Blog Hop

I chose to work with this colour combo ...

and came up with this ...

Supplies:

Cardstock: PTI Aqua Mist, Rustic Cream
Stamps: PTI Rosie Posie, Rosie Posie Step 2, Ruby Rose
Inks: PTI Hibiscus Burst, Orange Zest, Summer Sunrise, Berry Sorbet, New Leaf; Versafine Onyx Black

Pages With Papertrey Challenge #34

Leigh Penner has posted another challenge for making scrapbook pages using Papertrey Ink products (here). The challenge is to use a stencil on your layout, and I chose to use embossing paste with mine.

I added a little Golden yellow ochre acrylic paint to my Liquitex Light Modeling Paste to add a bit of colour and used a Papertrey Harlequin Cover Plate die cut as my stencil. I thought the diamond shape went well with the baseball chain link fence in my photo. I cut a title with my Silhouette and die cut and stamped a PTI Grand Ampersand. Patterned papers come from My Mind's Eye (the red) and Fancy Pants (aqua camera patterned).

Here is a detail of my text strips:

I put the complete story of this day on the back of my layout:

Thanks for looking!

Papertrey Ink Make It Monday #167: DIY Notebooks

Crazy busy this week, but I did find the time for one MIM project this week, a very simple one. A little notebook for my purse (always looking for something to write on when I'm out and about). The notepaper inside is graph paper (4x6 Project Life Grid Cards, trimmed straight and cut in two) because that's my preferred paper for list making and note taking.

Supplies:

Cardstock: PTI Vintage Cream, Smokey Shadow
Stamps: PTI City Scene Sentiments, Bold Bouquet Anniversary, Instant Photo: Holidays; Winnie & Walter The Big The Bold and The Happy
Inks: PTI Smokey Shadow; Hero Arts Wet Cement; Fresh Ink Blue Sage
